Mersey Vale Nature Park grew from the rubble of a derelict bleach-works and railway sidings. The river Mersey forms the backbone of the park and the coast to coast Transpennine Trail runs through the centre of the park. Thousands of tonnes of soil were used to create the park’s open space. Wildflowers were sown and new trees planted. Over time these spaces have created nature rich habitats which can be enjoyed by people and wildlife for many years to come.
